No Complaints, No Refund Issues—Still Sued by the FTC
We didn’t have issues with complaints or unhappy customers.
Refunds and chargebacks were under control. None of that was enough.
There’s so much that business owners just don’t know. Some of us hire the “big law firms” and think their logo is some kind of bullet-proof protection. It isn’t.
Over the last 15 years, I probably had invested close to $1 million in legal fees. I even had a full-time paralegal working in my company.
I had built crazy systems to assure my customers were happy and not complaining.
The theory I worked under was simple.
Despite spending over $1 million on compliance reviews and legal advice, thousands of happy customers, and having a full-time paralegal in the company, I STILL became a target of the FTC.
It ended up costing me roughly $15 million.

The FTC has significantly ramped up its enforcement efforts. In their 2023 annual report, they revealed that in less than 12 months, they conducted over 2,000 individual investigations. That’s an average of nearly 5.5 investigations per day!

Disclaimers should be used correctly, but they are just one piece of the puzzle. Comprehensive compliance means adhering to all FTC regulations, not relying solely on disclaimers.
